MAY 2025

Ren at Ren Celebrating AAPI Heritage Month

What are the chances that two new NYC spots – both named Ren and both women and Chinese-founded – would cross paths and become friends? This May, that serendipity turned into something real.

To celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, Ren Matcha and Ren Sichuan came together to host a special one day pop-up rooted in community, shared culture, and a love for thoughtfully made food and drinks.

Set in the heart of East Williamsburg, Brooklyn where Ren Sichuan is located, the afternoon was designed as an open, laid-back experience. Guests were welcomed with a matcha latte of their choice from Ren Matcha's drink menu as well as a curated tasting plate from Ren Sichuan featuring dan dan noodles, scallion pancakes, and handmade dim sum pumpkin cakes.

Throughout the day, over 150 people came through our doors for an afternoon filled with friends catching up, new faces meeting for the first time, and the hum of community that energized us as we hand-whisked each cup of matcha.

AAPI Heritage Month is often marked by celebration of identity, of stories, of visibility – and this felt like our own way of participating in that. As AAPI founders and creatives, we carry so much of our cultural roots into what we do, and to be able to share that, even in something as simple as a cup of matcha or a plate of dim sum, is something we'll always hold with care.

We’re endlessly grateful to everyone who stopped by Ren at Ren, and already dreaming up what’s next.
